Founders live at forks in the road: take the money or stay lean, hire or wait, pivot or persevere. And many Christian founders freeze, waiting for a sign that never comes. Seeking God's will in decisions is less about decoding a secret plan and more about becoming the kind of person who can be trusted to choose wisely.
God gives wisdom, not usually a script
Scripture promises that if you lack wisdom, you can ask God and He gives generously. Notice what it promises — wisdom, not a memo. Most decisions are made by praying, gathering counsel, weighing it, and then choosing with faith, not by waiting for lightning.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6
A simple discernment framework
- Pray honestly, surrendering the outcome before you decide.
- Search Scripture — does anything here have a clear right and wrong?
- Seek counsel from wise, godly people who know you.
- Weigh wisdom and peace — what does clear thinking, plus a settled conscience, point to?
Then decide, and trust
After you have prayed, studied, and counseled — choose. And trust that a good Father can redirect a surrendered heart that gets it wrong. He is not waiting to punish an honest mistake; He is committed to leading a yielded founder.
Discernment is a muscle, built in the daily habit of listening before you decide.
